I gave blood at work this morning. That was the 3rd time I've ever done it. I'm passing my blessing into the health system so that when I grow old and weary I won't feel bad taking others blood.
Things went smoothly just like both times before. 62 pulse, 120/80 blood pressure, and sufficient minerals in the blood sample they do. Good to see I'm still in good health.
I really should exercise more though.

Another Day Another Dollar
Or a couple hundred dollars if you're me ^_^
Friday is always a slow day here at work. I don't know if the boss realizes it, but everyone seems to come in late or not at all. Granted, most of the people that don't show up work from home but it is still really quite.
I love quiet.
I started reading Death Note this morning and am finding it to be an easy read. Watching the Anime all those years ago probably helps. My word and character recognition is great compared to my speaking skills after 6 months. I guess some things go away more easily than others. I want to take the JLPT level 2 test again this year. Registration is starting soon and the test is in December.
Can I really pass it though?
I failed it last year by a few percent (see 3%) and have been out of practice. However I hear that if you can recognize all those characters and understand what they mean then you have a much better chance at passing.
It's weird... I never really got into the high level grammar during my studies (I still use mostly the grammar from Genki I and II--First 2 years of study) rather than all the stuff I learned in Japan. You just don't have the opportunity to use the more rare phrases in daily conversations.
In any case, I will look into it more. It is a good chance to get out of Cleveland and go to Chicago for a weekend (I could even stay with Jim Kogler! Juggling club's President and Computer Science Capstone partner-in-crime!)
I wonder If I have the willpower to accelerate my studies.

What to do
I just got into work this morning and don't really have anything to do... I did however rummage through my 2 boxes of manga this morning and grabbed 1, 3, and 5 of Death Note. I thought I had organized my books by series before I shipped them off, but I guess some of them got mixed into the box I lost... Stupid postal people losing my box of stuff!
I will try to figure out something to do today besides try to look busy. It would be so much easier if my screen faced towards a wall instead of to the aisle where everyone walks by.
In other news, the Japanese engineering students arrived on Sunday night and I got the chance to meet them last night. There are 3 guys--Shin, Take, Kousuke, and 1 girl--Lisa. They seem like a pretty cool bunch. None of them were particularly shy about talking but as per the usual they prefered Japanese to English. I feel like there is a gag tied around my throat causing me to spit and stutter all my words. My Japanese skills (at least speaking) are not kind to a lack of studying for 6 months. I need to work on getting that back up to speed once school and Kaiwa Club start up again.

Using Both Feet
There was a guy in front of me (I think he was old) while I was driving to work this morning. I found it odd how his brake lights never went off, even when accelerating from a stop light. At first I thought that his lights were on and they were really bright, but then I saw them flash off for a split second.
He was driving with one foot on the gas and one foot on the brake.
Funny how after driving for 6 years now it is the first time I've ever seen it. Also, what a great way to ruin a Buick.

My Driving Escapades
Oh I love when people don't know the rules of the road. Like when there is a left turn lane and a big strip of striped yellow lines before it. Nobody dares cross the yellow lines; they instead slam on the brakes in front of you and then slowly get into the turn lane. Or when someone is stopped in the left turn lane waiting until traffic clears only to find that the light turns red. I don't know how many times I've seen that person just sit there in the middle of the road, or even try to back up! It's ridiculous.
Well today I had a fun run-in with the center turn lane. SOM Center is a 4 lane road with a center turn lane. To go to work in the morning I have to turn left out of my apartment complex and merge with traffic. The logical thing to do? Wait until there is no traffic from the left and minimal traffic to the right, turn into the center turn lane, then wait until you can merge over into the right lane. I just reached the center turn lane when I heard a *SCREEEEEECH* behind me. When I looked back there is this middle aged woman with the window down driving a 4-door car in the lane beside me, and it looked like she was yelling something. I chuckled to myself, waited for traffic to clear, then continued on my way to work.
The funny thing was, she didn't hit her horn or move into the right lane. If I had been doing what she thought I was doing (moving into her lane,) She would not have been able to prevent the accident by slamming on her brakes. Now I know my driving practices are not perfect, but I like to think I'm a better driver than those listed above.

New Car
I spent my lunch hour today and yesterday looking at the next car I want to purchase. Hopefully I will be able to pay off my student loans before having to make this decision (as long as the Lumina doesn't die on me in the meantime.) My initial thought is the BMW Z4, but at a pricetag of $50,000, it just isn't reasonable yet. So, my next top 3 pics are:
