New Car

I spent my lunch hour today and yesterday looking at the next car I want to purchase. Hopefully I will be able to pay off my student loans before having to make this decision (as long as the Lumina doesn't die on me in the meantime.) My initial thought is the BMW Z4, but at a pricetag of $50,000, it just isn't reasonable yet. So, my next top 3 pics are:

1. Mazda MX-5 Miata
MPG 22/28
Price: $25,000

2. Pontiac Solstice
MPG 22/28
Price: $27,000

3. Honda Civic Coupe
MPG 29/34
Price: $20,000

All the cars have manual 5/6 speed transmission (yay!) and are listed with their new 2009 prices. Obviously the Civic is the way to go because it is cheaper, gets better gas milage, has lower insurance, and is pretty fun to drive. However, I wanna get a nice car before I'm 50!

3rd Week of Work

It's been two entire weeks already? My how time flies!

I received my first paycheck last thursday and am happy to report that I am officially on my own. I wanted to hang it on the wall (so cliche!) but I have no paper statement and needed to quickly spend the money anyway. My much needed first paycheck went into paying off my credit card, next months rent, electric bill, and internet bill. As a present to myself I also bought a wireless router. There is still a good chunk left over which is going straight into my savings for a rainy day.

Papercraft

I was inturrupted at the beginning of my lunch today by Emily saying that I should post something.

I recently picked up a hobby known as papercraft. Basically it is almost the same as origami except that you also use scissors and glue. The designs can be printed out on standard 8.5 x 11 inch paper (printer paper) and then cut, folded, and glued together. You are supposed to use slightly heavier paper, but I don't have that at my disposal quite yet. So far I have made 2 and am working on my third. It takes about 2 days during lunch to make a simple one.

The best site for starting papercraft has to be cubecraft (www.cubeecraft.com) in which most of the designs are simply cubes. However you can quickly get into some really intricate designs. Just do a google search to see what I mean.

Cedar Point

My friends and I got together Sunday morning and headed to Cedar point. There were a total of 9 people going; Of which, six of them crammed into my car. Everyone had a really good time I think. In the morning we all stayed together. After lunch Emily and I ventured off on our own. We rode all the big coasters, the two water rides, and saw a Snoopy-themed ice-skating performance. Suprisingly there was almost no line for any of the rides. The Maverick had the longest line at about 40 minutes but the rest of them were under 20. It was amazing.

Today At work I stumbled upon this description of Comprehensive Insurance:

I wanna see the guy who steals a semi ^_^

Blogging from Work

I think it's about time that I start writing in my Jounal/Diary/Blog/Webspace again now that I have ample amounts of free-time. *GASP*!

It has been quite a while since I last updated. This is mostly due to a lack of free time. My thesis, graduation requirements, projects, and my girlfriend took up most, if not all of the time in my day. Not to mention that I still had to go to class for 4+ hours a day. So I'm starting fresh with a new apartment, job, people, and life.

It is wierd knowing that I have my own place now. There was the dorms at college but they just didn't feel "mine". Now I have a gigantic living room and bedroom, with a kitchen and bathroom on the side. Nearly all my belongings from home have been moved up and set in place. It's kinda freaky how much it reflects my old home.

Then there is the new job. I work 8 hours Monday through Friday, 8:30am to 5:00pm. There is no time-clock. Instead I simply walk in, sit down, and start working. When I feel like going home I just get up and leave. Weird. The people around here are all helpful and welcoming. The first week or month I have to learn all about insurance and the systems Progressive uses. There is being so much information thrown at me that my boss said he would be happy if I retained 30% of it. My computer is set up with all the software I need (I think) but I still havn't figured out how to use my phone or check my messages. I don't think I will feel comfortable here for another few weeks.

My lunch break is almost over. You can expect more blogging later.
